What Is This?

After starting the Taxol treatments, there was a noticeable redness in the left breast, along with a small hardening.  Dr. Livingston examined Theresa and felt that there might be some kind of infection going on.  He had Dr. Viscusi take a look and she agreed with the possibility of infection.

They prescribed a high dosage antibiotic and a few weeks of rest from the Taxol.  During this time, it did not get better and there was a continuing enlargement of the lump.

Consultations were made between Dr. Livingston, Dr. Viscusi and Dr. Larson, the reconstructive surgeon.  One thought emerged that this might be some type of fat necrosis caused by the lumpectomy in June.  Dr. Livingston wanted to continue with the Taxol treatment and that's what we did.
